SMALL GROUP STUDIES
Christian Growth Center of Orland Park

At the Christian Growth Center, we share a simple meal together because it's dinner time, but also because that’s what Jesus did. It’s a great way to fellowship; to celebrate life, give thanks, and it's certainly something that we all have in common. As many of us may be coming from work or other activities of the day, a nice prepared meal will be fun and refreshing.

We give thanks in advance to our food services leadership for helping to bring this healthy and delicious benefit to our group. It will prove to be a great timesaver for everyone, and reduce the burden on those who would otherwise be cooking at home. Now you can take an evening off, away from your kitchen, and participate in something a little more uplifting.

The term “Last Supper” does not appear in the New Testament. Traditionally, many Christians refer to the New Testament accounts of the last meal Jesus shared with his Apostles as the “Last Supper”. Many Christians believe the term suggests this was one of several meals; not the only meal.

The term “Lord's Supper" refers both to the biblical event, and the act of "Holy Communion" and Eucharistic ("thanksgiving") celebration within their liturgy.

Depictions of the Last Supper in Christian art have been undertaken by artistic masters for centuries, Leonardo da Vinci's late 1490s mural painting in Milan, Italy, being the best-known example.
